Romanian seaside attracts 20,000 tourists on May 1 break

02 May 2011

Over 20,000 tourists spent last week-end on the Romanian seaside, celebrating May 1st, a traditional seaside break period, according to the Seaside Association and Tourism Association president, Corina Martin.

“Our estimates were exceeded, as we had hoped. More than 20,000 tourists chose to spend this week-end on the Romanian seaside”, said Corina Martin. She noted that the same thing happened last year on May 1, while many tourists preferred for this year’s Easter the Bulgarian seaside instead of the Romanian one.

“Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t so good, but we are pleased that a large number of Romanians have chosen to come to the seaside despite the bad weather forecast. This proves once again that they keep the tradition to go at the seaside on May 1”, she added.

According to Corina Martin, the “Seaside for all” program starts on May 2, providing discounted rates for a stay of six nights on the Romanian seaside.
