Romanian artist’s sculptures to be exhibited in New York this November

12 October 2015

Elegant sculptures made by Romanian artist George Pavel will be exhibited at Chelsea’s Agora Gallery in New York City next month.

The sculptures, which take the minimalist, aerodynamic aesthetic of well-known sculptor Constantin Brâncuși into the twenty-first century, will be part of the Modalities of Expression exhibition, organized between November 3 and November 24.

Born in Romania and now a German citizen, Pavel views his work as a reflection on the nature of the universe and the spirituality of humankind. “Throughout his spirit is the man also a universe,” he says.

His sculptures are made of bronze, stainless steel, and alabaster, balancing opposing forces and elements: the earthbound weight of stone and metal meet in flowing, weightless, and effortless formations.

George Pavel attended the Academy of Arts in Bucharest and has won many awards for his work.

The Modalities of Expression exhibition will also feature other artists such as Phoebe Webb, Annita Faitaki, Chris Silver, Marlene Kohn, Björn Malm, Alexander Telin, James Chisholm, and Jan Kotka. The opening reception will take place on November 5, between 18:00 and 20:00. Find out more about the exhibition here.
