Romania keeps 5th spot in fixed broadband internet speed ranking

Romania is again fifth in the world for its fixed broadband internet speed in Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index. The country has held the fifth spot since December 2016.

In November 2017, the fixed broadband internet download speed in the country was of 104.46 Mbps, up from 84 Mbps in November 2016, and above the global average download speed of 40.11 Mbps.

Only Singapore, Iceland, Hong Kong and South Korea surpass Romania in the fixed broadband internet speed ranking.

When it comes to mobile internet connections, Romania ranks 36th in the world, up three places since October 2017, with a download speed of 29.42 Mbsp. It is above the global average download speed of 20.28 Mbps.

Overall, mobile downloads increased 30.1% over the last 12 months and mobile uploads increased 38.9%, while the mean global speed was of 20.28 Mbps. A global average of 40.11 Mbps made fixed broadband downloads 97.8% faster than mobile and this speed increased 31.6% during the same period. Uploads over fixed broadband showed the smallest increase, of 25.9%.
