Holcim plans to finalize this year EUR 12 mln investments in greening its Romanian factories

Construction materials producer Holcim Romania, which should finalize EUR 12 million worth of investments in its Romanian factories in Alesd and Campulung cement plants, has joined the "Sustainable Energy Europe" campaign with the “Low Carbon Footprint Products” project. During this project, which will be finished in late 2011, new facilities will be installed in order to increase the waste co-processing capacity.

More than 300 projects were registered in the Production section of the "Sustainable Energy Europe" Campaign, with 70 of them coming from Romania.

Worldwide, Holcim Group committed to reduce the CO2 emissions by 25 percent until 2015, compared to 1990. The "Sustainable Energy Europe" initiative is part of the "Europe - Intelligent Energy" program, developed by the European Commission. Its objectives are the promotion of the sustainable energy production and efficient use all across Europe, as well as the enhancement of the public awareness on these issues. Holcim Romania has two cement plants in Campulung and Alesd, and one grinding station in Turda, 19 ecological concrete stations, 5 aggregate plants and a cement terminal in Bucharest.
