Henri Matisse exhibition kicks off at Bucharest palace

An exhibition featuring 83 lithographs of the French painter Henri Matisse is open in Bucharest until June 7 at the Noblesse Palace. Matisse created these between 1945 and 1950.

The exhibition can be seen daily between 10,00 and 19,00 at the Noblesse Palace based on phone booking, and the entrance price is RON 45. Every Saturday, the Noblesse Palace will also organize a Rendez-vous cocktail avec Henri Matisse, which will include food tasting and a private tour of the palace and of the exhibition. The price of a ticket is RON 90. Students have free access during the week based on a valid ID.

The French artist, famous for his use of color and expressive language, is regarded as the principal protagonist of Fauvism, the first avant-garde movement at the turn of the century. His work is considered innovative both in its treatment of the human figure and in the constructive and expressive role of color.
