Heatwave continues in Romania with temperatures reaching 42°C

Romania's National Meteorological Administration issued a code orange alert for high temperatures in Bucharest and 22 counties in Eastern and Southern Romania, where temperatures could reach up to 42°C, while other counties received a code yellow warning.

The yellow code for heat will be in place on Monday (August 6 ) in all areas of the country, and Tuesday in the South, Center and East. Maximum temperatures will frequently register values ​​of 36-39°C and the temperature-humidity index (THI) will exceed the threshold of 80 units of thermal discomfort.

The code orange heat warning is valid for Bucharest and the counties of Mehedinti, Gorj, Dolj,Olt, Valcea, Arges, Virginia, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Dambovita, Prahova, Buzau, Ialomita, Calarasi, Braila, Galati, Vrancea, Bacau, Vaslui and Neamt , Iasi and Botosani.

Maximum temperatures will reach 38-40°C in many places, while some spots on the Romanian Plain will register highs of 41-42°C.

On Wednesday temperatures will decrease in all regions, with only the South reaching temperatures 35-37°C degrees.
