European Union Baroque Orchestra opens the 2015 edition of Bucharest Early Music Festival

The tenth edition of Bucharest Early Music Festival will kick off on October 20, 19:00, with a concert of the European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO), conducted by Lars Ulrik Mortensen. The event will take place at Sala Radio in Bucharest and will include works by Georg Friedrich Händel, Antonio Vivaldi, and Tomaso Albinoni.

EUBO was founded in 1985 and is made of the most talented young musicians in Europe, specialized in playing early music. The ensemble was named the Cultural Ambassador of the European Union under Jose Manuel Barroso's presidency.

Bucharest Early Music Festival will end on November 28 and will comprise a total of 14 events. Various instruments will play the music for the audience, such as the triple harp and the gothic harp, the Renaissance guitar, the harpsichord, the clavichord, and the Baroque violin. For the first time in Romania, the festival will host a viola organista concert, an instrument designed nearly 500 years ago by Leonardo da Vinci and brought to life by Polish pianist Sławomir Zubrzycki.

The festival’s events will take place at Sala Radio, Bragadiru Palace, Cotroceni National Museum, the Romanian Peasant Museum, the Anglican Church, and Foisorul de Foc.
