Tobacco producer JTI Romania will not see its cigarette prices going up until July next year, as the company is already paying EUR 76.59 per 1,000 cigarettes, although the Fiscal Code currently states an excise of EUR 74. The difference is due to the VAT increase, according to Gilda Lazar, corporate affairs manager with JTI.
Romania's Transport Ministry plans to convert Bucharest's Aurel Vlaicu (Baneasa) Airport into one reserved for business flights and move low-cost traffic to the Henri Coanda Airport in the nearby town of Otopeni, which will mean higher costs for budget airlines and higher ticket prices.

Artmark auction house will organize an auction with EUR 1 million worth of paintings on December 16 in Bucharest and in Sibiu. The paintings by Romanian artists will be simultaneously auctioned from Bucharest and Sibiu through a duplex electronic system. The auction is organized in partnership with Brukental Museum in Sibiu. The Bucharest auction will take place at the J.W Marriott hotel, while the one in Sibiu, at the Hilton Hotel Sibiu, both starting 19,30 hours.
Romania will issue only 5,500 work permits for foreigners next year, 2,500 fewer than this year, and will issue fewer work authorizations to temporary employees, for whom social security contributions are not paid.
