Central Romania: Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu to launch its own perfume this year

20 June 2023

The Brukenthal National Museum in Sibiu, central Romania, is set to launch its own perfume this year. Named after its founder, the former Transylvanian baron Samuel von Brukenthal, and his wife, the new perfume is being created in partnership with a local producer.

According to the manager of the Brukenthal Museum, Alexandru Chituţă, the perfume is to be launched by autumn, Agerpres reported. There will be a version for women, with fragrances of orchids and gardenia, and one for men with a scent that reveals notes of cherry.

“As we announced months ago, the Brukenthal National Museum, together with Matca, a very good perfume company from Sibiu, already started and entered a straight line with the perfume - which I think will be named Brukenthal and Sofia because we will have a fragrance for men and one for women,” Alexandru Chituţă said, quoted by Agerpres.

“It is the museum’s duty to support the business environment in Sibiu and especially the small one, the small business environment in Sibiu, and we already have the fragrances made, the perfume is made. Now begins the part that takes a little longer, with the packaging, logos and so on,” he added.

According to Chituţă, museum visitors will be able to buy the Brukenthal perfume in 50-millilitre bottles for RON 300. Currently, the souvenir shop sells other promotional products such as chocolate, coffee, and wine.
