Basarab flyover in Bucharest, opened last week-end

The Basarab flyover in Bucharest was opened on Saturday, when people were invited to walk on the flyover, while Sunday, at 6.00 hours, it was opened for car traffic.

Tests at the Basarab flyover were made for three days. During the tests, the flyover was loaded with weights, in different situations, and vertical and horizontal movement measurements have also been made, so as to ensure the safety of the passage.

The Basarab flyover connects the Nicolae Titulescu and Vasile Milea boulevards, in the vicinity of the North Railway station.Works on the flyover started in 2006 and were conducted by construction companies Astaldi and FCC. The project’s cost reached EUR 160 million.
