Work on Piata Sudului passage way in Bucharest start today

Construction work on the Piata Sudului underground passage way in Bucharest are supposed to start today, July 8, 2014, which will bring traffic restrictions to the area for the next 18 months.

The value of this infrastructure project, one of the largest in Bucharest, is EUR 29 million. Some EUR 22 million will be covered from EU non-refundable funds, which also make this the largest infrastructure project in Bucharest to be financed by EU funds.

The passage way will be 356 meters long and will connect Calea Vacaresti to Vasile Nitu street. Traffic in the area will be restricted and some bus stations will be moved to clear the way for the construction site. Construction work is supposed to take 18 months, until December 2015.
