Romanians paid about EUR 360 million with their Visa cards abroad, in 2013. Almost a third of this sum was registered in the summer holidays period, July to September, according to data released by card company Visa.

Romanians made some 5.3 million transactions using their cards abroad last year. The most frequent payments were for accommodation, mainly hotel stays, but also for clothing items and fuel.

The largest number of payments abroad by Romanians were recorded in Italy, France, Germany and Great Britain, representing 44 percent of all payments.
