Famous camping in Romania’s Vama Veche Resort expands to prepare for new seaside season

15 April 2015

A popular camping site in the even more popular Romanian seaside resort of Vama Veche will re-open end of April, after having expanded on some extra 2,000 sqm.

The Sandalandala camping in Vama Veche has expanded to 6,000 sqm to cope with the demand, as in previous years, campers had to phone in to reserve their spot. This year, starting the April 27 re-opening, the owners promise no need for phone reservations for campers who bring their own tent. Those who want to rent a tent from the camping site will however have to phone in.

Camping fees for those who bring their own tent are RON 8 a day for a two-person tent, RON 15 a day for a four-people tent, and RON 30 a day for larger tents (porch, two rooms and living). There is also a per person tax of RON 28 for those who stay one or two days, or RON 23 per person for longer than three-day stays. The fee for children under 10 is RON 10.

Those who want to rent an equipped tent from Sandalandala will have to pay RON 100/day for a two-person tent. The prices, which include all fees and camping taxes, go down for those who stay more than one day.

Vama Veche is one of the most popular Romanian seaside resorts, especially among the youth, as well as among expats. It is the southernmost seaside resort in Romania, close to the border with Bulgaria.

The seaside season officially starts in Romania on May 1, when many people take advantage of the free day and turn the longer weekend into their first seaside bathing session.
