US opens registration for 2013 Visa immigration program this week

Romanians can sign up for the US 2013 Diversity Visa (DV-2013) immigration program from October 4, starting 12:00 hours, until November 5 this year, according to the US Embassy.

The participation in the program is free, and the applicants may access the electronic form at www.dvlottery.state.gov only during the registration period. The applications that qualify will be randomly selected by a computer.

To qualify for a Diversity Visa on the basis of work experience, the applicants must, within the past five years, have had two years of experience in an occupation that is designated as Job Zone 4 or 5, classified in a Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) range of 7.0 or higher. Some of the occupations that will qualify the applicants for the Diversity Visa are Computer Systems Analysts, Elementary School Teachers, Athletic Trainers, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Architectural and Engineering Managers, Construction Managers, Accountants, and many others. In 2011, 821 Romanians won the DV-2011 diversity lottery, while last year, the number of Romanians who won the DV-2010 lottery amounted to  647.
