Two Romanian women elected vice-presidents of the European Parliament

Romania’s MEPs Adina Valean, from the National Liberal Party – member of the European People Party EPP and Corina Cretu, from the Social Democratic Party, member of the Socialists & Democrats group, were elected vice-presidents of the European Parliament on Tuesday, July 1.

They will be among the 14 vice-presidents, some of which include big names, such as Olli Rehn, the European Commissioner for finance and economy.

Adina Valean, 46, has been a Romanian Member of the European Parliament since 2007. She is married to Romanian politician Crin Antonescu, the former leader of the National Liberal Party PNL.

Corina Cretu (pictured below), 47, has been a MEP since 2007. She is a former journalist and former spokesperson for Romanian President Ion Iliescu.
