Former UPC Romania CEO to run regional division for parent-group Liberty Global

30 June 2015

Romanian Severina Pascu, the general director of telecom company UPC in Romania and Hungary, will take over as general manager of Liberty Global’s operations in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). American group Liberty Global, one of the largest cable companies in the world, owns UPC Romania.

Severina Pascu thus moves from managing a EUR 110 million business in Romania (according to UPC’s 2014 results) to coordinating a division that generated EUR 1.26 billion in revenues for Liberty Global in 2014. She will lead all of Liberty Global’s operations in Poland, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Liberty Global serves some 4.7 million customers in this region, where Poland is its biggest market, with 1.44 million clients, followed by Romania, with 1.19 million clients.

Severina Pascu has been CEO of UPC Romania since 2010 and CEO of UPC Romania and Hungary since 2013. She started as Chief Financial Officer for UPC Romania in 2008. Prior to that she had worked for KPMG, Metromedia and CAIB Romania. She graduated the Economic Studies Academy (ASE) in Bucharest.

Pascu will replace Betzalel Kenigsztein, who took over as President and Chief Operating Officer of Liberty Global in Latin America and the Caribbean. Robert Redeleanu will become the general director of UPC Romania, starting July 1. Redeleanu has been the company’s Chief Marketing Officer since 2013.
