Salaries in Romania, up by 4.5% on average

10 September 2015

Wages in Romania have increased on average by 4.5% in 2015, according to the Mercer survey on salaries.

The average growth in wages slightly dropped compared to last year by 0.5 percentage points. This proves that companies are more cautious with the budget for wage increases, said Roxana Marin, Consulting Manager within Consulteam, cited by local Economica.net.

The percentage of employees who left the companies on their own initiative dropped from 8% in 2014 to 7% in 2015.

Some 44% of the companies want to hire people in 2015, especially in niche positions such as IT, engineering, production, and sales, as well as in management positions. Only 10% of the companies that took part at the survey want to lay off employees this year.

The survey was conducted on a sample of over 200 companies in most industries.
