Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, who is currently number 3 in the WTA ranking, will play her first match in this year’s Wimbledon tennis tournament on Tuesday, June 24. She will play against Brazilian Teliana Pereira in the first round of the tournament.

Halep is the number three favorite of the tournament. She should have no problem advancing to the fourth round, as she has lower quoted players on her path. In the third round she could face another Romanian, Sorana Cirstea, seeded number 29, and in the fourth round she could meet Italian Roberta Vinci (seeded number 21) or Spanish Carla Suarez Navarro (number 15).

Last year, Halep was eliminated in the second round at Wimbledon by Chinese player Na Li. However, Halep made great progress in the last year and earlier this month she played the final at the Roland Garros French Open.
