Romania's PM to present public procurement system reform to the Parliament

04 September 2015

Prime Minister Victor Ponta said he would present the reform of the public procurement system to the Chamber of Deputies on Monday next week, before officially sending it to the Parliament.

After the Fiscal Code’s reform, the public procurement system needs a reform, as Romania has surplus money which it doesn’t manage to spend, Ponta said, reports local Mediafax. As budget revenues are higher and the country receives more European funds as well, Romania should update its public procurement system according to the European Directive and based on the lesson learned in the past, the Prime Minister added.

The draft amendments to the Public Procurement Law were submitted to public debate until the end of August. Several organizations have asked for an ampler debate on this law.
