Romania's PM says the lower VAT rate increased the budget revenues

01 September 2015

Romania’s Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Monday, August 31, that the VAT rate cut for food and tourism services brought higher budget revenues in July and August, according to data from the National Fiscal Administration Agency (ANAF).

He added that he would present the official figures for August on September 1, together with the ANAF director, reports local Mediafax.

However, the PM added that he was worried that the Romanian economy would reduce its growth rate in the fourth quarter, due to the drought that has affected the local agriculture sector, which would also negatively impact the budget revenues.
