Romania's Highways Company pays EUR 33 mln for road rehabilitation

Romania’s National Highways Company CNADNR on July 2 signed two contracts worth EUR 33 million for the rehabilitation of almost 50 km of the national road which connects Bucovina to Maramures.

The companies Tehnic Asist and Specialist Consulting won the contract for the first 26 km, for EUR 18.7 million, whereas the company Antrepriza de Reparatii si Lucrari ARL Cluj will build the rest of the segment, namely 24 km.

The projects will be completed with funds from the European Investment Bank and from the state budget, reports local Ziarul Financiar. Design and work will last for about two years.

The road that links Bucovina and Maramures, two of the most beautiful regions in Romania, has gained the fame of being one of the worst roads in the country.
