Romania's National Company for Highways (CNADNR) has awarded a EUR 2.1 million (without VAT) contract for carrying out emergency works on certain sections of the DN1 national road.

The contract’s negotiation was carried out without any public tender. The authority justifies its decision by saying that it was an emergency situation created by events which couldn’t have been foreseen, reports local Economica.net. The decision was in accordance with the strict conditions laid down in the Directive, authorities say.

The company Maristar received the contract and will carry out the safety works in the Prahova county.
