Romania’s Fiscal Administration Agency to pay EUR 1.6 mln for new PCs, laptops

08 July 2014

Romania’s National Fiscal Administration Agency (ANAF) started a bid to acquire 2,357 desktop and portable computers for an estimated EUR 1.6 million, VAT included. This means that ANAF is willing to pay about EUR 680 for each computer it will purchase.

The new computers will replace some of the 28,000 computers that ANAF and its subordinated institutions currently have as some of them have ended their technological life cycle, the ANAF announced. This is the first large computer purchase ANAF is conducting after five years. The investment will be financed from the state budget.

ANAF will buy 1,700 desktop computers and 657 laptops, but 100 laptops will go to the Finance Ministry. The institution wants these computers to integrate last generation technologies. Minimum requirements include at least 8 GB of RAM memory and SATA III hard drives with a minimum speed of 7,200 rpm and minimum 500 GB capacity. They should also come equipped with Windows 8.1 Professional operating system, according to the bid’s specifications.

ANAF is the public institution in charge of collecting taxes in Romania, and has about 27,000 employees.
