Romania’s exports up 10.7% in August
Romanian exports rose by 10.7% in August year-on-year to EUR 4.9 billion, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Imports advanced by 9.3% compared to August last year to EUR 5.98 billion. Following this evolution, Romania’s trade deficit reached EUR 1.06 billion in August, up 3.9% year-on-year.
The trade deficit amounted to EUR 7.8 billion in the first eight months of this year, up 28.3% year-on-year. The trade deficit’s annual growth rate is lower compared to the one in the first seven months of this year, which reached 33.2.%.
Exports totaled EUR 41 billion between January and August this year whereas imports amounted to EUR 48.9 billion. The exports to the EU countries reached 75.8% of the total exports whereas the imports from EU countries represented 75.7% of the total imports.
Cars, transport machinery and equipment accounted for 46.8% of all exports and 37.1% of all imports.
