Romanian state agency awards EUR 13 mln contract to controversial firm

Romania’s Special Telecommunication Services (STS) has awarded a contract worth almost EUR 13 million to extend the Single Emergency Call System 112 to the IT company Teamnet International, reports local Hotnews.ro.

The firm was founded by the controversial businessman Sebastian Ghita, who is currently investigated by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) for influence peddling and tax evasion.

STS, an agency with military status, coordinates special communications activities, for institutions such as the Presidency and the Government among others.  STS is also in charge of the Single National Emergency Call System.
