Romanian Guccifer indicted in the US for hacking into e-mail accounts of high-profile people, including member of Bush family

The Romanian hacker known as Guccifer was indicted in the US on charges of hacking into email accounts of high-profile people including family of former presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush, reports The Telegraph.

Romanian Marcel Lehel Lazar, 42, is accused of wire fraud, unauthorized access to a protected computer, aggravated identity theft, cyberstalking and obstruction of justice.

The US Justice Department said the incidents took place between December 2012 and January 2014.

"Lazar hacked into the email and social media accounts of high-profile victims, including a family member of two former US presidents, a former US cabinet member, a former member of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff and a former presidential advisor," the statement said, cited by The Telegraph.

The Romanian hacker was already sentenced to seven years in jail without parole last week in Romania, for having hacked into the e-mail accounts of the Romanian Intelligence Service SRI director George Maior, of MEP Corina Cretu, as well as of several movie and TV stars.

The Romanian hacker known as Guccifer was indicted in the US on charges of hacking into email accounts of high-profile people including family of former presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush, reports The Telegraph.
