Romanian government closes down four private universities

Four private universities, previously accredited, will be closed down, and 135 specialization and study programs will no longer be available, the Government has decided.

Out of the 37 private universities accredited in Romania, four will close, and three will be under monitoring. The Romano – Catholic Theological Institute in Bucharest, the Financing – Banking University in Bucharest, the Mihail Kogalniceanu University in Iasi and the Mihai Eminescu University in Timisoara will all be closed down.

All four were previously under monitoring. The three other universities this year under monitoring are the Bioterra University, the Romanian University for Sciences and Art in Bucharest and the Apollonia University in Iasi.
