Romania’s Agency for the Funding of Rural Investment (AFIR) has already received almost 1,400 projects within the 2014-2020 National Rural Development Programme’s framework. The total value of the financing requests reaches EUR 103 million.

Most applications for funding were submitted for the “Support for installing young farmers" measure. Their total value amounts to EUR 44 million, reports local Mediafax.

In September, AFIR will open another round for submitting projects for other two measures, namely “Investments in the creation and modernization of the basic infrastructure on a small scale” and “Investments related to cultural heritage protection.”

At the end of May this year, the European Commission formally adopted the Rural Development Programme (RDP) for Romania, which outlines the country’s priorities for using nearly EUR 9.5 billion of public money between 2014 and 2020, EUR 8.1 billion of which come from the EU budget.
