Romanian CEC Bank grants EUR 1.3 bln loans to support EU-financed projects

Romanian state-owned lender CEC Bank has granted about 27,000 loans of over EUR 1.3 billion to support projects with European financing, during the 2007-2013 programming period.

The bank has financed projects in agriculture, industry, rural infrastructure, tourism, or rehabilitation of water and sewerage networks.

Since 2008, it has opened 42 offices with staff specialized in EU funds and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to counsel companies and individuals that wanted to access EU funds. European funds have a decisive contribution to the economic growth, said Radu Gratian Ghetea, CEC Bank president.
