Romania plans to build 1,200 km of highways by 2030

Romania plans to build over 1,200 km of highways and 1,900 km of express roads between 2015 and 2030, according to the revised version of the General Transport Master Plan which the Transport Ministry sent to the European Commission.

The document includes EUR 43.5 billion projects for all transport sectors, reports local Economica.net. The estimated value of the road infrastructure projects amounts to over EUR 26 billion. The highway projects will require about EUR 13.25 billion, according to estimations.

The document includes the modernization of over 4,000 km of railway track, which would demand about EUR 10 billion, whereas the electrification projects total EUR 1.1 billion.
