19 August 2015

Romania needs over EUR 1.4 billion to restore its irrigation infrastructure, said Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin.

The secondary irrigation infrastructure will be made through the National Programme of Rural Development (PNDR). For the primary irrigation infrastructure, Romania has submitted a project at the European Commission, for which it expects an answer, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

It is the first time in 25 years when Romania has a strategy for restoring the irrigation infrastructure, the Minister said. The PNDR mainly aims to restore the secondary irrigation infrastructure, which needs about EUR 420 million.

Starting July, farmers can benefit from EUR 218 million funds for the secondary irrigation infrastructure.
