Romania invests EUR 21 mln in Agriculture Agency’s IT system

03 August 2015

The state will invest over EUR 21 million to update the IT system of Romania’s Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA), the Government decided last week.

The financing will be provided from the state budget, over a two-year period. Without this investment, APIA won’t be able to manage the Romanian farmers’ payments requests, and these won’t be able to benefit from the payments they are entitled to, according to the official document.

The technology used in 2006 to develop APIA’s information system is no longer current, and the activity would be more efficient if the system were adapted to the new technologies, reads the Government Decision.
