Tudor Cristian Jurgiu's debut feature length film was the Japanese Dog /Cainele Japonez, in 2013, which won him several international awards.

This came after two short films, In the Fishbowl/In acvariu, in 2013, and Oli's wedding/Nunta lui Oli, in 2009.

Jurgiu, one of the youngest in the new wave of Romanian film directors, was born in 1984 in Medias, central Romania. He graduated the theater and Film University in 2009, and directed four short films during university.

In 2013, he got the third prize in the Cinefondation section at Cannes for the short In the Fishbowl.
