Romania exported beverages and tobacco worth EUR 394 million in the first five months of 2015, up by EUR 108 million compared to the same period in 2014.

Imports of beverages and tobacco amounted to over EUR 198 million, up by EUR 30 million year-on-year, reports local Agerpres. The sector thus recorded a surplus of EUR 195.9 million.

The beverages manufacturing sector employed about 18,800 people at the end of May, with an average net salary of EUR 461, whereas about 1,700 people worked in the tobacco manufacturing industry in this period, with a net average salary of EUR 894.
