Romania and Bulgaria to open new border checkpoint

25 June 2014

A new border checkpoint will soon be opened between Romania and its neighbouring country Bulgaria, according to Bulgarian authorities cited by Novinite.com.

The new checkpoint will connect the two countries at Severnyak (Bulgaria) and Dobromir (Romania) villages, in the South – Eastern part of Romania, in the Dobrogea region. The closest border point between the two countries is at Vama Veche, 100 kilometres to the East, at the Black Sea.

This project is expected to boost the economic development in the region. The checkpoint and the entirely new road infrastructure have been constructed under a project with leading Romanian participation, reports Novinite.
