Several renewable energy power plants, which have a cumulative installed capacity of over 60 MW, will be connected to Romania’s grid in the next period.

These include wind farms with a capacity of 40 MW, photovoltaic power plants with a capacity of 18 MW and biomass power plants of 15 MW, according to Romania’s electricity transport company Transelectrica, reports local Mediafax.

The investments amount to over EUR 100 million, considering the estimated costs necessary to build a MW depending on the energy source.

State-owned thermal electricity producer Electrocentale Grup has built a solar park in the Braila county, with an installed capacity of 1.7 MW. The company, which is controlled by the Energy Ministry, financed the project.

Romania had more than 4,200 MW of renewable energy generating capacities (wind, solar and biomass), of a total installed power capacity of 22,300 MW, in April this year.
