Renault unveils automatic transmission for Romanian Dacia models at Frankfurt Motor Show

28 August 2015

French group Renault will officially launch the Easy-R automatic transmission for Romanian carmaker Dacia’s Logan and Sandero models at the Frankfurt motor show, in September. This is a premiere for Dacia, as all of its cars have only been available with manual transmission up until now.

The Romanian carmaker will also show its Duster Edition 2016 in Frankfurt, according to a press release of the Renault group, quoted by Mediafax.

The Frankfurt Motor Show takes place on September 15-16. The French group will also launch its new Renault Megane model at the auto show.

The Renault group sold about 290,000 passenger cars under the Dacia brand globally, in the first half of 2015, some 27,000 more than in the same period of 2014. Last year, Dacia sales reached 511,000 units, up by 19% compared to 2013.

Renault produces cars under the Dacia brand at its Romanian plant in Mioveni, near Pitesti, and at Tangiers, in Morocco.

Dacia’s popular Logan, Duster and Sandero models are also produced in Russia and Brazil, but under the Renault brand.

Renault already launched the automatic transmission for the Logan and Sandero models produced in Russia, earlier this year.
