Raiffeisen Bank International ups profit by 10% in Romania

Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) recorded a EUR 52 million profit after tax in Romania in the first half of 2015, up 10.4% year-on-year. In the same period of 2014, the group registered a profit after tax of 47 million in Romania.

RBI’s assets on the local market went up by 4% year-on-year in the first six months of 2015, to EUR 6.77 billion. The group’s operating revenues registered a 2.2% decline, to EUR 221 million, as the net interest income decreased by 0.4% and the net trading income went down by 25.6%. However, the net fee and commission income increased by 4.4% year-on-year in the first half of 2015, to EUR 84 million, according to RBI’s financial report.

Its total volume of loans registered a slight decrease of 0.1% when compared to the same period the year before, to EUR 4.37 billion.

At the end of June, RBI had a network of 515 units in Romania, 2.8% less than in the same period of 2014, when the bank had 530 units on the local market. The number of employees increased by 1.3% in the first six months of the year, to more than 5,400, while the number of customers went up by 2.3%, to 2.11 million.
