Poll: About 35% of Romanians plan to spend EUR 500 on holidays this year

About 35 percent of Romanians polled by website ivox.ro said they can spend EUR 300 to EUR 500 this year on holidays, while 19.37 percent said their 2011 holiday budget ranges between EUR 500 and EUR 1,000.

The research, which polled 4,120 people, revealed that about 10 percent of respondents plan to allot over 1,000 for holidays this year. According to the poll, 30.65 percent of Romanians will spend less than EUR300 on holidays in 2011 and 5.71 percent said they won't go on vacation this year. The poll also shows that, in 2010, over 47 percent of respondents spent their holidays in Romania, 17.09 percent spent their vacation abroad and 12.72 percent chose both local and foreign tourist destinations. About 23 percent of respondents said they did not go on vacation last year.

The research shows that 38.8 percent of Romanians plan their holidays without resorting to tour operators. Over 90 percent of respondents said services offered abroad are better than in Romania.
