Phone fraud scams target Romanian taxpayers

Dozens of Romanians from Timisoara and Bucharest received text messages about their alleged debts to the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) and were advised to call a phone number.

ANAF representatives said that the agency did not send the messages and taxpayers should not follow the requests, but instead they should contact the fiscal institutions they belong to and clarify the situation.
