The Ploiesti Court of Appeal rejected on Friday, August 21, Petrotel Lukoil director Andrey Bogdanov’s request to leave Romania to travel to Moscow for six days. The decision is final.

On Monday last week, the Ploiesti Court approved Bogdanov’s request to travel to Moscow, but the prosecutors challenged the decision at the Court of Appeal, reports local Wall-street.ro.

At the beginning of August, Romanian prosecutors filed a case against the companies Petrotel Lukoil Ploiesti and Lukoil Europe BV Netherlands, both part of the Russian group Lukoil, and six individuals. Among them was the Russian citizen Andrey Bogdanov who was accused of misusing the company’s funds and money laundering.

Prosecutors seized bank accounts held by Lukoil Europe BV Netherlands at British and Dutch banks, as well as the shares the firm holds at Petrotel Lukoil. The damage in this case was estimated at some EUR 1.77 billion.
