PayPoint reaches over 53 mln bill payment transactions per year in Romania

British payment operator PayPoint processed 53.5 million bill payment transactions in Romania in the 2014/2015 financial year, up from just 1 million transactions registered in the first year of activity on the local market (2008/2009). The company didn't release the value of the processed payments.

PayPoint's number of partner stores has increased to more than 9,200, in the past seven years. The company’s services are now available in supermarkets, minimarkets, and mixed stores. Back in 2008, PayPoint had some 2,000 partner stores in Romania.

The company currently works with 97 partner suppliers, for which it cashes in payments. In 2008, PayPoint’s official launch date on the local market, the company had only four suppliers from the utilities and telecom sectors. In time, the company’s portfolio became more diversified. In 2012, PayPoint entered the money transfer and electronic money segments, and in 2014 it introduced vignette payment, plane tickets payments, and the payment of security service bills.

PayPoint’s portfolio includes companies such as GDF Suez Energy Romania, E.ON, Enel, Electrica, Vodafone Romania, Telekom Romania Mobile, Orange Romania, Telekom Romania, UPC Romania, Akta TV, NextGen Communications, Radiocom, RCS & RDS, Allianz-Tiriac Asigurari, UniCredit Consumer Financing, Kruk, Garanti Bank, Oriflame, and Avon.

PayPoint Services Romania had a turnover of over EUR 37 million, up by 18% compared to 2013, and a net profit of EUR 2.7 million, according to official data from the Finance Ministry.
