New metro trains carry a quarter of commuters on Bucharest’s Line 2 in over a month

The new metro trains introduced in Bucharest over a month ago transported some 1.5 million passengers since being commissioned, or about a quarter of the commuters on the Metro Line 2, according to network operator Metrorex.

A CAF train has six wagons and can carry 1,200 passengers. Its maximum speed is of 80 kilometers per hour, and its commercial speed is half of that. Metrorex, also managed to save 5 percent of the energy consumption after the new trains were introduced.
