Media: Finnish company Finnair to cancel flights to Romania

04 October 2011

Finnish company Finnair will cancel its flights to Romania, according to sources quoted by RFI. The last flight from Bucharest to Helsinki it is scheduled for October 28 this year. Finnair officials said the company will soon communicate on the issue.

The sources quoted by RFI say that they don't "understand" the Finnish decision to close the route, since Henri Coanda Airport in Bucharest is a real hub to Asia for the Finnish company.

Finnair flights to Romania were inaugurated on April 10, 2007. The flights were part of the company's strategy for Asia, but also to enter on the Romanian market. Ten flights link Bucharest and Helsinki each week.
