Danish home decor retailer JYSK brings new store concept to Romania

Danish furniture and home décor retailer JYSK recently reopened its store in Militari Shopping center, in western Bucharest, bringing its new concept to the Romanian market. The new store will focus on bedroom furniture and decorations.

The store covers 1,100 sqm of retail space and its structure has been reorganized to bring in front JYSK’s flagships products the sleeping accessories such as mattresses, pillows, quilts, and bed linen.

JYSK, which is owned by Danish entrepreneur Lars Larsen, has over 2,200 stores in 38 countries. The retailer opened its first store in Romania in 2007 and now has 24 stores throughout the country. It plans to reach 100 stores in Romania and had 15 new openings projected for this year, up from 10 in 2014.

JYSK’s sales in Romania increased by more than 50% in 2014, to EUR 22.8 million and the number of employees went up to over 220, according to official data from the Finance Ministry.
