Greek investments in Romania could reach a peak this year

22 July 2015

Greek investments in Romania could exceed EUR 400 million this year, so that 2015 could become the year with the biggest Greek investments in Romania, due to the constraints imposed by Greece’s new financing agreement.

The Greek capital’s exodus to other countries, including Romania, has already begun, according to KeysFin analysts, reports local Economica.net.

Several Greek investors have shown willingness to move their business to Romania, especially in the services, agriculture, trade, and tourism sectors, according to financial consultancy firm KeysFin.

Between 2010 and 2014, the number of companies with a majority Greek capital increased from 832 to 1,020, whereas the turnover rose from EUR 202 million to EUR 265 million, according to KeysFin data. The figures do not include the banking system, where the Greek investors have a significant influence and which is regulated by the Central Bank.
