The new gondola lift in Sinaia mountain resort, Prahova Valley, will be ready in December this year.

The gondola, which required an investment of some EUR 10 million, will link the city’s Cota 1400 to the ski area at Cota 2000. The necessary funding came from a bank loan, according to Sinaia Mayor Vlad Oprea, cited by local Agerpres.

The new gondola lift will have a capacity of 1,500 people per hour during the winter season.

The gondola that links the mountain resort to Cota 1400 was inaugurated in 2007, after a total investment of EUR 7.7 million.

Sinaia is a mountain resort in Prahova county. It is a popular destination for hiking and winter sports. Some of its tourists landmarks are Peles Castle, Pelisor Castle, and Sinaia Monastery. About 150,000 tourists, 30% of whom are foreigners, come to Sinaia every year.
