German retailer Lidl opens two new stores in Romania, increases staff

German retailer Lidl is set to open two new stores in Romania this week, in Craiova and Bucharest, reaching a total network of 175 units. The two new stores have a total sales area of 2,400 sqm.

The company will also add 37 new employees to its local team of 3,800 people, reports local Wall-street.ro.

Lidl is one of the largest supermarket chains in Europe, and operates over 10,000 stores.

Earlier this year, the retailer has closed one of the three stores in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania.
