American carmaker Ford's sales of its iconic Mustang model in Romania have exceeded the company's expectations.

Romanian clients have ordered 58 Ford Mustang cars in just a few months, before the model’s arrival in the showrooms. Ford Romania’s target for this year was to sell 40 units, which means that the expectations were already exceeded by some 40%, reports local 0-100.hotnews.ro.

Some 80% of the ordered cars are equipped with 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engines that deliver 317 horsepower, and the rest have 5-liter V8 engines that provide 422 hp.

The new Ford Mustang is available for sale in Romania in two locations: Ford BDT and Ford Tiriac Auto Baneasa. The prices start at EUR 37,000, including VAT.

Some 2,200 Ford Mustang cars have been ordered in Europe, and most of them had 2.3-liter EcoBoost engines.
