First online driving test using Google Street View launches in Romania

09 April 2015

Romania launched the first online service to test driving and regulation knowledge by using Google Street View. Instead of using classical drawings, the online test uses real traffic images from Romania, as captured by Google for its Street View service.

The test was launched by the Romanian Auto Club (ACR) via its own driving school. It is free to use by anybody who wants to prepare for a driving test.

Moreover, anybody who notices any traffic irregularity caught on camera by Google Street View can report it directly on the driving test site and the ACR instructors will turn it into a question, and include it in the tests, said Alin Drosu, deputy manager with ACR.

The service is available at streetviewtest.ro, which is also available in English, but all questions are still in Romanian. ACR wants to have it included as an official preparation for the driving test in Romania, and even aims to make it available worldwide.
